Newport Beach, CA (June 13, 2007) - The new Chula Vista International Off Road Raceway brought challenges to the Sportsman Series. With 45 degree banking and a 117 feet elevation change in turn one, the fans were on their feet to watch each sportsman class attack the track.

Sean Kennedy started on the pole in Saturday’s Single Buggy feature. There was a crash in turn one of lap one that sent several drivers to the back of the field. Kennedy held onto first place for ten laps until lap eleven when John Fitzgerald who started in the 18th position worked his way through the field to pass Kennedy at the start of the final lap. This was Fitzgerald’s first CORR race of the season. Kennedy held on the second and Jeff Knupp rounded out the podium.

“After crashing the buggy out here in testing and all the work the guys put into our buggy I am so proud of our finish,” said Jeff Knupp.

Troy Morgan led the field of thirty one Single Buggies at the start of Sunday’s event. Morgan dominated the field leading every lap of the race. Kevin Greaves who was running in second until lap six was passed by Greg Boyer. Boyer however lost the second position quickly when he was passed by John Fitzgerald on the final lap. In the end it was Morgan with first, Fitzgerald with second and Boyer rounding out the podium.

Larry Job led the field to green in Saturday’s Super Buggy event. Job was passed on lap three by Larry Foddrill who started in the ninth position. Foddrill maintained the lead all the way to the checkered flag. Rob MacCachren came in second and Jake Capriotti rounded out the podium.

On Sunday, Rob MacCachren led the field from the start of the Super Buggy event to the end. Meanwhile John Cooley, Jake Capriotti and Jeff Elrod battled it out for second position. In the end Elrod won the battle securing second place behind MacChren with Larry Foddrill finishing third.
